This Board of Peace's self-appointed rule over Gaza is pretty much akin to the International Congo Society that was empowered by the Berlin Conference of 1884-85 to establish sovereign rule over the Congo Basin. This was when European powers divided up Africa amongst themselves.
The association was initially founded by Leopold II of Belgium under the guise of doing humanitarian work in the Congo; which he then used to occupy its territories and created the Congo Free State.
The colonial project in the Congo under this council was a blatant corporatocracy that was made up of a committee of British and Dutch businessmen and Belgian bankers who were solely interested in profiteering (sound familiar?).
Leopold masked his true motivations of brutal colonial dominion; of mass extraction and exploitation, by arguing through establishing this enterprise and fellow Europeans recognizing it as his sovereign property; he would use it to end the slave trade there; further humanitarian and philanthropic missionary/ *civilizational* work, and to establish free trade.
This was all a complete lie. It came to serve as his personal property through which he established a violent colonial regime focused on forced labor and rubber extraction, that ultimately killed millions upon millions of Congolese.
