Worth watching. In addition to the basis of Tucker’s questions, why is the issue of using a religious text as a basis to determine entitlement to ownership of land never questioned? And for those who entertain the idea it is a legitimate basis despite it being counter to the separation of state and church and counter to the basis of international law, how is it that a people who thousands of years ago - who were purportedly led there by God (note this is a belief) and therefore by definition came from somewhere else - have a legitimate claim to take it all, but Christians have no such claim at all on the very birthplace of their religion. Is the New Testament inferior? This is not intended to question Israel’s ‘right to exist’, but this particular basis of that right which is being discussed broadly but not pursued in all its dimensions. It is in the interests of a better understanding, to examine the basis of claims, in particular ones that involve funding to the tune of many billions and multiple wars. The state of Israel was established by the UN. That is a separate issue to the one discussed here, and also relevant to its ‘right to exist’. When considering that question, the issue arises as to whether states have a right to exist in international law. It was created via ‘legitimate’ means, though the integrity of that process has been challenged, and the morality of it is at the very least questionable.
