Once upon a time Australia chose right over might. Those times have now gone.
Canada is a close friend and like-minded partner located in the Trump regime’s “sphere of influence”.
Is the Australian government completely deluded?
When Kevin Rudd resigned as US ambassador Albanese reiterated the usual prattle about the US being our principal strategic ally. This 'ally' just informed another of its 'allies' - Denmark - that it was going to take over Greenland, part of its territory which is practically an autonomous country.
When the US explicitly abandons international law and says it will 'take'
other sovereign states, this time an ally, its ally Australia stays silent. No comment.
Where is the 'great Australian' character?
What does this silence mean?
“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
Either Australia objects but is too scared of the US to say so, or it does not object but is too scared of its own people to say so, or it does not object at all.
Even with the door now revolving between Australian uniparty politicians and the US military industrial complex, it's hard to believe our government would not object.
The only way its silence can be characterised is as abject cowardice or as an egregious moral bankruptcy forsaking fairness and justice for transactional diplomacy.
It's exactly the same as Australia's silence on US support for the Israeli-US genocide in Gaza.
The US has formally exempted itself from international law, has declared that it will pursue its own interests according to Trump's personal morality [which to any rational observer is non-existent] and is now on a rampage stealing the property and land of other countries, this time of an ally.
Once upon a time Australia chose right over might. Those times have now gone.
And who is going to speak up when Trump says the US should own Australia? We needn't worry, they already do.
