It’s ok to bomb a capital, abduct a president, & parade him hooded like a trophy. But accurate language? That’s a step too far.

BBC journalists are instructed to say Maduro was “captured” or “seized,” but never “kidnapped.” That word hits too close to the truth & would make empire look bad. It’s ok to bomb a capital, abduct a president, & parade him hooded like a trophy. But accurate language? That’s a step too far. Old-school journalism used to call things as they are, today’s version is public relations for empire, fully sanitised, absolutely spineless & totally complicit. #BBCBias #VenezuelaInvasion #Maduro #EmpireApprovedLanguage

BBC journalists have been banned from describing the kidnapped Venezuelan leader as having been kidnapped. The BBC News Editor has sent this to BBC journalists.
