Three observations:
1. If Israel now accepts the death toll in Gaza 70,000-plus, that's only because it knows the true figure is far, far higher. Even Israel admits there are many more people buried under rubble, or who were starved to death, or died because Israel destroyed all the hospitals.
2. Israel's aim was always to sow doubt about the slaughter in Gaza when it mattered, so the western media could sell the genocide more easily to audiences. See how much coverage this receives from the media outlets that deceived us over the past two years.
3. Israel's admission reflects an assessment that the mass slaughter of Palestinians has now been normalised. Tens of thousands of dead Palestinians is the new benchmark for its military operations.
