Israel intensifies pressure on Trump over Iran Israel was the first to quietly admit that its plan in Iran, to create unrest, destabilize the system, and possibly topple the regime, has failed. The internal track toward weakening Tehran has run out of options, and protests and unrest have not produced the desired political effect. After failing from within, Israel is now betting on Trump’s ego and his sense of spectacle: that the idea of “the whole world watching” will push him toward a military strike. Israeli officials see his desire for recognition and decisive action as a tool to influence U.S. policy. Israel is stepping up pressure on Trump, presenting this as a “historic opportunity” to act while the moment is ripe. Israel frames it as a critical window that cannot be ignored, a chance to force Tehran onto the defensive. At the same time, Israeli officials know privately that a military strike would not topple the regime. On the contrary, it could consolidate Iran internally, rally domestic support around the government, and strengthen its regional posture. Yet Israel continues to advocate escalation, fully aware that a strike could backfire strategically, embroiling the United States in conflict while Israel seeks to advance its objectives indirectly.
