If the tear gas & batons come out at an anti-genøcide protest in Australia, the narrative will change.
No longer will the protests be framed as family events with average people and grandmas joining in.
The framing will set the protests as ‘violence’ and ‘thuggery’ by ‘extremists’.
Concerned police and politicians will condemn, rightwing media with raise the heat, and the lobby will call for even greater repression.
