Almost two weeks after True News Weekly exposed the Lions of Zion’s plan to host a family event glorifying Mossad’s grisly Beeper Bomb operation that tore through Beirut in September 2024, the country’s media-industrial complex has chosen a breathtaking silence.

The condemnation from Palestinian, Lebanese and progressive Jewish organisations has been swift, unequivocal and furious.
True News Weekly spoke exclusively with Nasser Mashni, spokesperson for the Australia Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN), who delivered a blistering appraisal of the event and of the political vacuum surrounding it:
“It beggars belief, and is deeply disturbing, that an event promoting and celebrating Israeli terrorism is being packaged as a child friendly family activity. The idea that terrorism can be turned into entertainment for children reflects a profound moral failing,” he said.
“What this event represents is what Palestinians have always known, Zionism is racism!
“Rather than shame, Zionists are taking validation from, and are emboldened by the terrorist actions of the Israeli government. Turning the death, dismemberment and serious injury of so many innocents into a source of pride or amusement is sickening.”
Mashni told True News Weekly that the planned Lions of Zion “celebration” this weekend does not do anything to build resilience or community spirit, two concepts that have been heavily espoused by many a politician of late.
“It cultivates desensitisation, division, and radicalisation. It evidences Zionists gross and callous disregard for human suffering,” Mashni said.
“Any attempt to present this Zionist event as harmless fun for families should ring alarm bells for all Australians who care about our country and for basic human decency.”
Mashni’s condemnation mirrors the shock felt across Australia’s Lebanese communities.
The Lebanese Muslim Association, speaking with SBS, described the event as “disgraceful” and asked what every reasonable Australian is now asking:
“How is this even legal?” Gamel Kheir, secretary of the Lebanese Muslim Association, said while speaking with SBS.
And from within the Jewish community, the Jewish Council of Australia called the event a threat to social cohesion and a disturbing indoctrination effort by the far-right.
“The fact that this is now being celebrated and these deaths are now being celebrated by a local group, it should be really concerning for anyone who cares about anti-racism (and) social cohesion,” Sarah Schwartz from the Jewish Council of Australia told SBS.
“For me, as a Jewish person, it’s very concerning to see far-right elements within the community trying to indoctrinate children into this ideology.”
SBS confirmed that multiple Jewish groups refused to comment — a silence that speaks louder than any press release.
