Israel says Abu Shabab was killed by his own "friends & guards"
This is a heavy hit for Israel's gang model; the IDF cultivated 5 proxy gangs in East Gaza with a promise of safety, protection, luxury, power, weapons & shelter.
Israel intervened militarily multiple times to defend those gangs & bolster their sense of safety.
But now the danger is from within. Those gangs are artificially created, not organically formed; Israel's Shin Bet & IDF grouped together criminals, fugitives, collaborators, murderers, thieves, sexual predators, drug dealers, ISIS members...
They're not fighting out of belief, ideology or for a cause. Each of them has been publicly disowned by their families & denounced by their friends & communities.
The only thing that binds together those gang members is the continued flow of money, drugs, luxuries, arms, & power. But any moment, fatal disagreements can arise, or a gang member might wake up feeling guilty & ashamed enough to pull the trigger & eliminate his leader as a way of repentance.
