New U.S.–Saudi Negotiations with Yemen Signal Panic Over Red Sea Escalation Amid rising Houthi operations in solidarity with Gaza, Washington and Riyadh have resumed indirect talks with the Sanaa government via Oman. Western diplomatic sources confirm that the U.S. and Saudi Arabia are now prioritizing three files in the backchannel: economic normalization, banking channels, and the political future of Ahmed Ali Saleh, son of Yemen’s former president. Sources indicate the U.S. is leveraging Saleh’s rehabilitation as a bargaining chip, offering to revive his political role if Ansarallah accepts a new settlement proposal. But Yemen’s stance remains unchanged: no agreement will be entertained unless the Zionist siege on Gaza is lifted and aggression halted. This sudden negotiation push reflects anxiety in both Washington and Riyadh, as Yemeni forces double down on their maritime blockade. Sanaa has reaffirmed that any vessel headed to Israeli ports, regardless of flag, will be treated as a hostile target. With Arab regimes increasingly unable to break the Red Sea blockade, the U.S. and “Saudi Yahudiya” fear a protracted disruption of Israeli trade routes, and with it, another strategic defeat at the hands of the region’s most unrelenting resistance actor.
