It is often said that Israel's genocide against Palestinians has created a crisis in Western liberalism, but this is not new. This is a contradiction that has ALWAYS been at the heart of Western liberalism, which is necessarily based on the super-exploitation of the workers of the Global South.
The peoples of the Global South always resist this super-exploitation, and therefore imperialists in the Global North (the core of the capitalist world-system) use genocidal violence to forcibly subjugate the workers of the Global South (the periphery) and keep them trapped at the bottom of the international division of labor.
Israel's colonial genocide is the latest example in a long line of Western colonial genocides, following the US empire's genocidal wars in Latin America, Korea, and Vietnam, and its extermination of Native Americans; the French empire's genocidal war in Algeria, the British empire's genocidal crimes in India, the German empire's genocide in Namibia, the Belgian empire's genocide in Congo -- the list goes on and on.
