People keep telling me the Syrian war is “complicated” and “hard to understand.” But the facts have been in plain sight for over a decade.
A declassified 2012 DIA document clearly states:
“The Salafist, the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria.”
Knowing this, Barack Obama still signed off on the CIA’s covert program—Operation Timber Sycamore—deliberately arming and supporting these radical factions.
That U.S. investment gave us Julani, and everything that led to his rise: the destruction, the sectarian warfare, and now the ongoing massacres against Syria’s religious and ethnic minorities.
And now, U.S. envoy Tom Barrack dares to say “America has no dog in this race.”
Let’s be honest:
The U.S. hasn’t just had a dog in the race.
