The elites have worked tirelessly since 1945 to “stop the spread of communism” as an economic system as this system was an alternative to capitalism. That is why, according to them, it had to be stopped. In other words, “we demand the right to exploit another country for our benefit” - not the U.S. or the targeted country’s benefit.

Sony, this is a great summary.
I grew up in the Vietnam War era. The defining mantra and justification for the U.S. involvement in it was to “stop the spread of communism”. One must ask “As opposed to what?”
Most political pundits glom onto the preferred definition of the elites of communism as a political system, which it isn’t. It is an economic system that the elites conflated into a political system.
It was all a lie. I met Robert McNamara in the early 2000s as he was speaking to a small group of business leaders, and he flat out said that was the case. He apologized for the deceit and the death, destruction, and cost he created.
Indeed, since 1945 the official but unstated U.S. foreign policy has been the execution of an extreme form of capitalism (I.e., colonialism). The U.S. has orchestrated the overthrow of 80 countries, always under various lies; but usually “promoting democracy” or “expanding freedom”. These lies were proclaimed while the U.S. would overthrow democratically elected governments and install puppet dictators who were invariably brutal and repressive. Not once did the U.S. install democracy. Importantly, these puppet dictators would structure the economy to benefit US corporations.
It was all a lie, not only in Vietnam, but everywhere.
