Francesca Albanese, sanctioned by Marco Rubio’s State Department simply because she called for the institutions of the ‘rules-based order’ to hold Israel and the US accountable for genocide in Gaza. There has been no more blatant admission that the ‘rules-based order’ is simply ‘rules for the rest but not for the West’. The institutions and rules are only for attacking official enemies of Washington and its allies, the global south and Washington’s enemies aren’t allowed to use the rules or institutions against them. For the US, Israel, and Europe, the rules-based order is simply colonial barbarism.
