You might think today's big news is that the US has joined Israel is committing the "supreme international crime" – waging a war of aggression – against Iran. Not so, apparently.
The BBC's Washington correspondent: "This is a dangerous moment. Can the White House stop it spiralling into a full-scale war?"
Next, the BBC's Downing Street reporter: "The prime minister [Starmer] has.. warned of a risk of escalation."
So the problem isn't the use of aggression by the US. It's the "danger" Iran might respond. And any response from Iran amounts to "escalation", of course.
Israel continuing the bombing of Iran it initiated, let us note, doesn't count as "escalation".
