Gad, you’re asking the wrong question. The real question is: Why can Israel own them? Because so far, it’s not Iran that’s bombed every neighbor it has. It’s not Iran that’s threatened the region with total war. It’s not Iran that’s sitting on an undeclared arsenal, outside the NPT, armed and shielded by the U.S. The only state in the region with nukes is also the only one that’s turned its borders into blast zones. If nuclear weapons are about deterrence, then maybe it’s Israel that needs deterring.
