An investigative report was supposed air today on Channel 13, revealing that so-called "hero" Rami Davidian, who made an actual career out his supposed heroic story of "rescuing hundreds on October 7", is a fraud and his story is largely made-up.
This is how Raviv Drucker, the host of the show where the report was supposed to air, described it:
"These are not slight exaggerations, slight inflating of the number of those rescued, absolutely not. These are stories made up from beginning to end. Hair-raising stories, that never really happened. Sometimes they come at the expense of people who were actually involved in those stories. Many of the leads that have reached us, began with the pain of people who rescued, saved, came out and were shocked to hear how they disappeared from the story. Some of the stories have been quoted in a reputable film, in newspapers around the world, in an important book. In the year and a half since the October 7 attacks, Davidian has turned his stories into an industry, countless paid lectures, in Israel and abroad, fundraising campaigns that were supposedly done for him, but he disavows them, a presentation, dozens or perhaps hundreds of interviews with the media, in which he repeats over and over again stories that simply never happened."
The promo sparked wide public outrage - Israelis were furious about the plan to "defame" a "national hero". Soon after, the channel decided to cancel the airing of the report, despite protest from Drucker.
