'Trump is absolutely right that the Ukraine war could end in a day. This war will end the moment a US President picks up the phone and says to Putin 'NATO enlargement was a bad idea'...that's the end of the war because that's the whole premise of this war.’
US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth bluntly stated today that the US does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome for a negotiated settlement. On the very same day, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke on the phone, the first known direct contact between Vladimir Putin and a US President since before February 2022, and agree to immediately start negotiations to end the proxy war.
