27 Members of the Knesset, including one opposition lawmaker of the Benny Gantz's faction, filed yesterday a new proposed bill to prohibit accusations of war crimes and Jewish terrorism.
The bill amends the Prohibition of Defamation Law, creating a new form of civil wrong: "False accusation of war crime or nationalistic crime"; and imposes compensation of up to 500,000 Shekel without proof of damage to the plaintiff. Specifically, the bill will safeguard settlers who have been sanctioned by the international community.
