Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky back in 2013 explains why Americans seek to overthrow Assad. Nothing new. Russia and Iran knew what followed. Common knowledge, but some are still surprised!? As I said before, this was a trap. A trap for Iran that Iran wisely avoids. Iran and Russia avoided the trap, the unnecessary waste of resources and unnecessary bloodshed, which the US, Israel, and its allies are now carrying out in full view of the world public. Temporary loss of territory, occupation, and wise avoidance of traps, if more important strategic goals are achieved, is not as heavy a blow as you think. Turkey and the Kurds have fallen directly into the trap. And because the trap did not work, the US and Israel found themselves stuck in it also, and chaos they created. They will not be able to get out of this, because this became their responsibility and will exhaust themselves even more. Both militarily and financially.  In addition, the world is watching and wondering how hunters who are now prey in a failed trap will get out of it.
