Cameron: 'We made right decision on Libya'
Prime Minister David Cameron insisted that the government did have a post-conflict plan for Libya and said that he made the "right decision" to stop Muammar Gaddafi.
He told Channel 4 News that his government stopped Gaddafi carrying out his threat of mass killings in Benghazi at the time of the 2011 Libyan uprising and denied that Britain abandoned the country after the dictator fell.
The Conservative leader said that putting troops on the ground to enforce change in Libya "wouldn't have worked" and that it often creates "more resentment, more terrorism, more problems".
"What we did, did stop Gaddafi carrying out a genocide, and that I think is important," he added.
Responding to Labour leader Ed Miliband's claims today that the coalitions lack of planning was partly to blame for the migrant crisis, Mr Cameron said that it was "the responsibility of the traffickers and gangs".
He added: "We need a strategy. Search and rescue is important but it wont' solve the problem alone."
"We can crack this, but it is going to take time, it is going to take a lot of work and it is going to take a comprehensive approach. Yesterday in Brussels we made a good start, but there is a lot to do," he added.
