Treasury's "Operation Economic Outcast" campaign takes real quotes from Iranian officials and removes the context to portray them as admissions of economic collapse.
President Dr. Pezeshkian said "the war must come to an end at some point" and called it a confession of collapse. He cut the part where Pezeshkian said, "Should we give in to problems and surrender? Of course not."
Dr. Ghalibaf warned that military power cannot sustain a country without a strong economy. But his broader point was that economic strength and national security must advance together, not that Iran's economy had collapsed.
Neither official said Iran's economy had collapsed. Bessent took broader arguments about economic resilience and presented them as evidence for its own narrative.
