One of the weirdest arguments treated as unquestionable is this:
We shouldn't criticise Israel, even for committing genocide, because lots of Jews support Israel.
So we shouldn't have criticised white South Africa because lots of Afrikaners supported apartheid?
We shouldn't have criticised Nazi Germany because lots Germans supported Hitler?
History shows lots of people are highly susceptible to influence campaigns, especially when they are bombarded year after year with misinformation from their political and media establishments.
That "lots of Jews" support Israel tells us precisely nothing about whether what Israel is, and what it does, is ok. All it tells us is that Jews, like everyone else, are easily swayed by the constant repetition of talking points.
