Does it appear on social media like X that Israel has overwhelming support from Americans? It doesn't.
Israel's support in the U.S. is at an all-time low. A super-majority disapproves of their ethnic cleansing in Gaza, and despite what it looks like, a majority of the American people do NOT stand with Israel. According to the polls, most are sick and tired of putting Israel first.
Why the discrepancy between the facts and what you're seeing? The answer is that Israel works very hard at controlling the narrative, astroturfing support, and managing what you see. Yes, many of those posts are real. But WHY you're seeing them and not seeing their critics has everything to do with Israel's control of the Internet.
You are observing the output of the most sophisticated, best-funded, and most deeply institutionalized information operation in the modern world, one that has embedded itself not just in propaganda campaigns but in the infrastructure of the platforms, the architecture of the algorithms, and the training data of the AI systems that are increasingly mediating humanity’s access to reality.
This article lays out five ways Israel has achieved this global dominance over the Internet and controls what you see, when you see it. This isn't a conspiracy. This is openly bragged about by Netanyahu and the Israeli media.
Here are fascinating facts about their vast cyberpower and control over information:
* Unit 8200 is the Israeli Defense Force’s computer-hacking, eavesdropping, and wiretapping wing. Unit 8200's former commander, Guy Rosen, works for Meta and heads up its censorship department. He has the ultimate say in what 3 billion of Meta's social media users see. And 94% of Israel's censorship requests are approved.
* Israel's Unit 8200 cyber commandos have now founded or run most major information warfare tech companies in the U.S., including Check Point, Cellebrite, NSO Group, Waze, and Palo Alto Networks. Israel's spies and agents are everywhere, effectively running Silicon Valley.
* Fun fact: Several of the more prominent information-control tech companies that manage what you see online were founded by former Israeli PM Ehud Barak, and created out of deals put together by Jeffrey Epstein. Interestingly, the very first such cyber-information warfare program was pitched to U.S. officials and assembled by Mossad s Robert Maxwell.
* Most nations focus their censorship on their own Citizens. For example, 99.2% of the take-down requests in Brazil are made by Brazilians. 97.4% of take-down requests in Qatar are for Qataris. But only 1.3% of Israel's censorship requests target Israeli citizens. NINETY-EIGHT PERCENT of Israel's take-down requests target citizens of OTHER nations (the bulk of whom are Americans).
* In July of 2024, Meta announced that all posts critical of Israel deemed to be "anti-Zionist" will be ruled as antisemitic, meaning that they will either be taken down or, more likely, suppressed in the algorithms.
* Every nation on Earth has to follow protocol to request censorship and issue take-down requests that require human approval. Except for one. With most tech and social media companies, Israel's requests are automated through AI, and pre-rubber stamped.
* Clock Tower, registered under FARA as an Israeli propaganda organization, uses software to reverse-engineer Google and Bing algorithms to guarantee pro-Israel narratives rank higher in your search results. This is according to the FARA filing, in their own words.
* That same FARA contract explicitly targets how ChatGPT and other AI answer questions about Israel, by flooding the internet with content that AI systems learn from.
* A Tel Aviv-based Google engineer uses personal back-channel relationships to remove thousands of posts regularly across YouTube, TikTok, and X, outside any formal review process.
* Human Rights Watch documented that of a sample of 1050 content removals, 1,049 were anti-Israel. Only one was pro-Israel content.
* Can't get specific journalists to shut up? Israel has killed more journalists since October 7, 2023, than all other nations/conflicts COMBINED (including every nation, including the totalitarian dictatorships) since 1992.
* In October 2023, Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs allocated two million dollars to a Tel Aviv political marketing firm called STOIC. The assignment: create hundreds of fake American social media accounts and use them to manufacture the appearance of widespread American support for Israel among US lawmakers.
* The Legitimisation Cell is a division of the IDF that has been PROVEN to use AI to find any "connection" (no matter how small) a journalist has to Hamas, preemptively feed that data to state-controlled media to label them as having "ties to Hamas," and then intentionally assassinate them.
