Stunning speech by the Omani FM at the Manama Dialogue putting on its head a key principle guiding US Mideast policy for the past 40 years: That Iran is the main source of instability in the region. According to the Omani FM, this is false. Israel is the main source of instability: "We have long known that Israel - not Iran - is the primary source of instability in the region." Note that he says "We have long known..." That is, this is not a conclusion drawn simply because of Israel's genocide in Gaza or strikes against Doha. Other GCC states may not have held this view that long. But most of them - if not all - agree with this assessment today. And many of them may follow the lead of the Omani FM and start saying out loud.
