Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid, in response to an unconfirmed Al-Akhbar report that Egypt is seeking backing from Arab states to form a NATO-style joint force to defend countries under attack:
"The report of Egypt proposing the creation of a joint Arab force in response to Israeli attacks marks a serious blow to the peace treaties, following closely on the damage to the Abraham Accords, which itself came after an overwhelming majority of former Israeli allies voted to recognize a Palestinian state.
This government has wrecked our international standing. A dangerous mix of irresponsibility, incompetence, and arrogance is isolating us globally. They must be replaced before it’s too late."
