Arab Silence Hands Israel a Free Hand to Strike Across the Middle East
Speaking today alongside U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Benjamin Netanyahu threatened that Israel will carry out further strikes similar to the attack on Doha, and declared it will target any state harboring resistance members, wherever and however it chooses.
While Israel boasts of its ability to assassinate at will and strike any country in the region, the Arab-Islamic summit responded with nothing more than a routine condemnation of the Doha attack and other assaults across the Middle East.
No one expected much, but once again Arab leaders chose submission over action.
Instead of seizing the moment to establish a mutual defense pact among Arab and Islamic countries, including Iran and Yemen, the only two states to have officially launched direct strikes against Israel, or at the very least declaring that any attack on an Arab or Islamic nation especially Palestine and Gaza would prompt a collective response, they remained passive.
If the concern is Iran’s Shi’a identity, they could have just as easily established a Sunni mutual defense alliance, uniting regional powers like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, two of which already face direct threats from Israel.
Yet instead, Arab states have effectively maintained a mutual defense arrangement with Israel, intercepting missiles and drones launched from Yemen and Iran that target the Israeli entity.
By failing to act, they sent Israel the clearest possible message: it can strike at will, without fear of consequences.
When Arab governments allow the genocide in Gaza to continue unchecked, and fail to respond even when Israel bombs their capitals and kills their citizens, they send a dangerous signal. The message is clear: even if you attack us, we will do nothing. Tomorrow’s strikes may not be limited to Gaza; the same war machine unleashed on Palestinians could just as easily be turned against Arab capitals across the region.
