In the mid 1980s, Shaul Magid spent time with Israeli settlers in Gaza.
He said the Israelis saw the Palestinians not as humans but as part of the landscape.
It’s the same mental model that likens Palestinians to overgrown weeds that need to be mowed down every few years.
