Netanyahu Calls Nasser Hospital Strike a “Mishap”; Israeli Soldiers Tell Channel 14 It Was Authorized and Coordinated
Israel’s Prime Minister expressed regret over the deadly strike, while soldiers insist it was deliberate, approved, and coordinated with command.
Channel 14 leaks: The far-right outlet published testimony from Golani Brigade soldiers involved in Monday’s strike on what they described as Hamas’s “Nasser headquarters.” They claimed they had identified a surveillance camera used for intelligence gathering, concluded it was operated by Hamas militants, and fired a tank shell to “neutralize the threat.” Soldiers told the channel: “The strike was approved and coordinated with senior command, and they knew about it before it was carried out.”
IDF Spokesperson’s backtracking: The military’s official spokesman said the chief of staff ordered a preliminary inquiry following a strike “in the area of Nasser Hospital” and reports of “harm to uninvolved individuals and journalists.” Channel 14 denounced this as a “hasty statement,” insisting troops acted “as required” and “according to procedure.”
Netanyahu’s statement: The Prime Minister’s Office issued its own message of regret, saying: “Israel deeply regrets the tragic mishap that occurred today at the Nasser Hospital in Gaza. Israel values the work of journalists, medical staff, and all civilians. The military authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. Our war is with Hamas terrorists. Our just goals are defeating Hamas and bringing our hostages home.”
While Netanyahu frames the strike as an error under investigation, Channel 14’s reporting suggests it was a deliberate and authorized action against what soldiers called a “terror target.” They said despite the hasty statement from the IDF spokesperson about a quick inquiry and regret over harm to civilians, once again the truth is the opposite—“to our great relief.”
