: the "China rose thanks to us" is the new coping mechanism to reconcile China's rise and American exceptionalism - "we didn't lose, we just gave it all away."

Perfect example of what I wrote last week: the "China rose thanks to us" is the new coping mechanism to reconcile China's rise and American exceptionalism - "we didn't lose, we just gave it all away." Setting aside the fact that this is zero-sum thinking that is wrong by definition - the world isn't black and white where one's "win" means another's "loss" - even within that framework, this is just sore loser mentality: obviously ridiculous to claim that China, which pulled off the fastest rise in human history, much faster than the US's own rise, did so with no merit of its own. If anything Deng Xiaoping's "reform and opening up" initiative that led to China becoming the world's factory was a Chinese initiative, and they succeeded because they offered great advantages to businesses that relocalized production in China.

The story of ‘China’s Rise’ - when the history books are written - will be a case study of greedy western businessmen, financiers and bought off intellectuals selling out their own people for a quick buck.
