Israel is the only country in the world that insists Jews all over the world are not nationals of their country, but belong to what it calls a “Jewish nationality”, the nation state of which is the State of Israel. No other country, no matter how despotic or anti-democratic (real or perceived), makes such a claim. Mohammed Bin Salman does not claim to be the crown prince of all the world’s Muslims. Narendra Modi does not claim to be the prime minister of all Hindus. Vladimir Putin doesn’t claim to be the leader of all Christians, etc. Benjamin Netanyahu, who doesn’t even practice the Jewish religion, claims to be the leader of all of the world’s Jews. That is the key difference between Israel and all other countries.
