According to an explosive new investigation by The Atlantic, Trump wants someone who “will crack skulls” and has “no interest in being reined in.” And in Stephen Miller, he's found his man.

The report reveals that the White House and Justice Department have discussed arresting journalists to force them to reveal confidential sources as Trump pushes criminal investigations into government leaks.

Outgoing chief of staff Susie Wiles pushed back against the idea, but Miller supported it, insisting that journalists wouldn't hold out long before surrendering their sources. It got Miller the job.

And the danger extends well beyond freedom of the press.

Trump had reportedly begun considering easing his brutal immigration crackdown after hearing complaints from business owners, friends, and even Melania, who knows people whose employees, nannies and tutors had been deported.

But Miller, the architect of Trump's mass-deportation campaign, will now oversee those very policy discussions, with far greater authority to push his hard-line agenda.

In a sickening speech at Mar-a-Lago last night, Miller pledged Trump his “absolute loyalty,” “unwavering commitment,” and “total devotion.”

The Justice Department called the discussions about arresting journalists, calling it “absolutely false.” But the magazine cited three people familiar with those discussions, including two who described Miller's support for the tactic.

Trump's own advisers say he wants someone who will “crack skulls.” He's just promoted a man who reportedly thinks throwing journalists in jail is a perfectly acceptable way to get what the president wants.
