Netanyahu lost the election but kept the army... and the man picked to replace him just walked away from the one promise that got him elected
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim, a former IDF intelligence officer, says Gadi Eizenkot has 48 seats, a 60-day mandate and two ways to reach 61.
One is a minority government backed by Arab parties, which he’s hitting with conditions nobody would accept.
The other is bringing in the ultra-Orthodox and dropping the draft he campaigned on, which Shaiel calls the single biggest issue of the election. Eizenkot picked the second one.
That leaves Netanyahu as caretaker, unable to pass a law but fully in command of the IDF, and Shaiel says he’ll use those 60 days to manufacture a security crisis that sinks the talks.
He adds that Israelis now treat Trump as finished and plan to “ride him until he’s dead” into another round with Iran.
