You want to understand why some Arab capitals fear Yemen?
A country with no conventional air force.
No conventional navy.
One of the poorest countries on earth.
Devastated by years of the most sophisticated air campaign American weapons could provide.
And it is still there.
Still firing. Still fighting. Still, in the most literal sense, unsuppressed.
The fear is not irrational.
It is the fear that every entrenched order feels when it watches a people with nothing prove that having nothing is not the same as having no power.
The same fear Washington felt in Vietnam.
The same lesson, arriving again, in different mountains, with different weapons and the same fundamental truth:
You cannot bomb a people out of their own cause.
Gulf capitals know this.
It keeps them awake.
It should.
