Zaha Hassan, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, told TRT World that President Trump and Jared Kushner’s “Board of Peace” is not rebuilding Gaza but already advancing plans to confiscate Palestinian land and assets for private investors. Hassan said documents are being drafted to seize private Palestinian property, while unpublished Board of Peace resolutions could allow it to take control of public land and facilities, accounting for roughly 35% of Gaza. She warned that the redevelopment plans promoted by Kushner would require the mass displacement of Palestinians into smaller enclaves while Gaza’s land, gas reserves, and other assets are transferred into a trust serving investors and business interests. “Commercial diplomacy is a euphemism,” Hassan said of US’s approach. “I would say what it is is grand theft.”
