Has anyone been following the very recent developments in Jewish genetics? They’re now saying that Ashkenazi Jews are literally 70% Italian and only 23% Levantine or Mesopotamian. In other words, we’re basically Italians who adopted Talmudic Judaism with some Judean genetic input and not much of anything else.
They’re also saying that the “Jewish nose” is simply an amplified Roman nose (pictured below)—amplified by centuries of endogamy and the disproportionate descent of Jews from the nobility, among whom that nose was more common.
Basically we're more Roman than Italians.
These studies are saying it can't be a case of simply having a similar genetic profile to Italians and they debunk the Cohen gene.
Once you understand that, you understand almost everything about us: essentially, a small Roman elite that adopted a religion it believed would keep it an elite beyond the collapse of Rome.
Eccentric upper crust folks, essentially self hating Romans who saw that the bedrock of economic prosperity was a set of reliable laws.
It might not suit some Jews to accept that we’re basically a bunch of Romans, but whether we like it or not, that’s who we are. I don’t think these findings are going to be revised away. I think this is it. This is going to become settled science.
