In Libya, we were told we were liberating the people from a dictator and bringing democracy. After the “liberation,” Libya has never truly recovered. The only thing that remained secure was access to its oil.

In Venezuela, suddenly the fight against drugs became a priority, and its president was abducted. What a coincidence that Venezuela also had the world’s largest proven oil reserves, which then came under foreign control.
