The United States has repeatedly destroyed countries not in the name of principles, but in pursuit of power and business interests.

In Iraq, we were told it was about weapons of mass destruction. The weapons were never found, but the oil was. In Libya, we were told we were liberating the people from a dictator and bringing democracy. After the “liberation,” Libya has never truly recovered. The only thing that remained secure was access to its oil. In Venezuela, suddenly the fight against drugs became a priority, and its president was abducted. What a coincidence that Venezuela also had the world’s largest proven oil reserves, which then came under foreign control. Now Iran is being accused of pursuing a nuclear program, but the real story once again comes down to two things: oil and Israel. The United States has repeatedly destroyed countries not in the name of principles, but in pursuit of power and business interests. Human rights seem to matter to America only in press conferences. When the bombs start falling, they are nowhere to be found.
