Iran has listed new terms for reopening the Strait of Hormuz as the Trump administration seeks more oil traffic without a deal. ➤ “Until several weeks ago, these demands were a prerequisite for a nuclear deal. Now, Iran is presenting them as conditions just for reopening the strait,” Axios reported. ➤ An unnamed U.S. official told Axios 8 million barrels exit the Gulf nightly through the southern lane in coordination with the U.S. military, far above Kpler’s 3 million barrels per day over the past week. Trump said oil sitting above $75 per barrel meant Americans are feeling less pain from the war. ➤ “The U.S. is going to try and get more oil out as long as there is no deal,” the official said. ➤ The official said Iran faces a “grim reality” when not at war and Trump claimed Iran’s economy was in “very bad shape,” lacking money to pay troops and had been further weakened by the U.S. naval blockade. “It will work out. It always works out. It’s like a chess game,” Trump said of the confrontation.
