And their shock turned to anger when the United States bombed Iranian water storage facilities and Israel struck Iranian oil depots.
Washington was gambling with its partners’ futures; had Tehran responded by striking Gulf water facilities or nuclear power sites, the resulting cycle of escalation could have ended with Gulf states’ facing economic catastrophe and enough environmental destruction to render them uninhabitable."
