Gaza has become a "human laboratory" to test how far a population can be compressed, deprived and controlled without triggering intolerable international backlash

🇮🇱🇵🇸 Gaza has become a "human laboratory" to test how far a population can be compressed, deprived and controlled without triggering intolerable international backlash Political scientist Norman Finkelstein's argument begins with the extraordinary conditions now imposed on the people struggling to survive there. Israel controls roughly 65–70% of the Strip, while everyone has been pushed into the remaining third of a territory that was already one of the most densely populated places on Earth. Then comes what Norman calls the "dietary experiment." Not outright mass starvation, but something more sinister and calculated: Keep humanitarian aid low enough to produce widespread malnutrition and acute food insecurity, but just high enough to avoid the kind of catastrophic famine that creates unbearable international pressure. When asked whether he believes Israel is doing this on purpose, Norman is unequivocal: "Of course it’s intentional." Life in Gaza is kept permanently on the edge of humanitarian collapse, while months after the ceasefire, he says meaningful reconstruction still hasn’t begun. Norman believes the ultimate objective is to make Gaza so relentlessly unlivable that Palestinians eventually conclude there is nothing left to stay for. Destroy the homes, compress the population, restrict the aid, don’t rebuild, then wait. Then hopelessness itself becomes the mechanism to achieve Israel's ultimate objective: to ethnically cleanse Gaza of Palestinians so Israelis can settle there. The bombs destroyed Gaza’s past, and everything happening now is designed to convince Palestinians they have no future there either.
