Seriously, how can this be a question?
China produces around 1.3 million engineering graduates a year.
Australia produces about 21,600 β and roughly half are from overseas.
One side is building a civilization-scale industrial machine.
The other is asking whether mining, agriculture and imported engineers can somehow make it a peer competitor.
It is a scale mismatch being marketed as competition.
China has shipyards, high-speed rail, batteries, EVs, robotics, machine tools, drones, power equipment, electronics, AI, and the worldβs deepest manufacturing ecosystem.
Australia has iron ore, universities, agriculture and a very confident panel discussion.
The serious question is not how Australia competes with China.
It is why anyone thought these were comparable industrial systems in the first place.
You cannot PowerPoint your way across a 60:1 engineering gap.
