 A former al-Qaeda leader took power, and his country promptly came OFF the US terror sponsors list.

Investigative journalist and foreign policy analyst Aaron Maté walks through the sequence that exposes how the list actually works.

Syria gets a ruler with an al-Qaeda past, and instead of sanctions tightening, Washington removes the country from the state sponsors of terrorism list entirely:
