Former Pentagon Senior Security Policy Analyst Michael Maloof told Al Mayadeen in an interview that US attacks on Iranian infrastructure are failing to achieve Washington’s intended objectives and are just a "desperate move on the part of the administration."
He asserted that US attempts to "bring Iran to its knees and to get the people to rise up once again" are instead producing the opposite effect, as the country remains resilient and capable of rebuilding.
Maloof argued, "I think that this is what the Trump administration is finding increasingly frustrating because it has no other response or approach that it can consider. So the best it can do is to just carry on a war-like approach and continue bombing infrastructure."
He added that this reflects a lack of strategy from the Trump administration, warning that prolonged war could push the world and Trump's presidency "over a cliff".
Maloof also criticized the US' handling of the US-Iran MoU that has been undermined by "Israel".
