David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, openly stated tue following:
"Since I invoke Torah so often, let me state that I don't personally believe in the god it postulates... I am not religious, nor were the majority of the early builders of modern Israel believers."
They saw traditional Judaism as something to overcome, not continue.
Zionism is not Judaism.
Jews are a religious community defined by Torah — not a political nation defined by a state.
