It amazes me how casually some people call Iran the aggressor without even reading the MoU.
The agreement makes it clear that, during the 60-day interim period, Iran would facilitate and manage traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Now ask yourself one simple question: if ships were already passing safely under that arrangement, why did the U.S. encourage ships to use the Omani side of the Strait instead?
The answer is straightforward.
Iran’s leverage over Hormuz was never acceptable to Washington. First Israel openly challenged the spirit of the MoU. Then the U.S. did the same.
While Iran was burying its leaders, Washington moved to alter the status quo in the Strait. From Tehran’s perspective, that crossed a red line.
