China is no longer merely trying to “catch up” with America in AI.
It is walking a different path.
The U.S. model is closed systems, export controls, chip blockades, security paranoia, and a small club deciding who gets access to intelligence.
China’s model is open-source AI, Global South access, AI training, cooperation centers with BRICS, ASEAN, Latin America and Africa, and a World AI Cooperation Organisation.
One side is building an AI Iron Curtain.
The other is saying AI should not become another historical injustice where a few countries monopolize the future.
That is the real split.
America wants to preserve hierarchy.
China wants to distribute capability.
So no, China is not simply competing with the U.S.
China is building another order.
