President Trump has found himself in the midst of America's greatest foreign policy failure in U.S. history.

Many people are reacting to the recent announcement that President Trump forced Netanyahu to halt his military operations against Lebanon. These reactions generally centered around anger. Embarrassment. Disgust. But this was the RIGHT MOVE from President Trump. It is clear as day at this point that Trump does not have the cards, will not have the cards, and knows he does not have the cards. We saw this initially when he, time and time again, threatened to attack Iran... only to back down about 30 times. Why? Because Iran has the leverage. Then, we saw this when Trump backed down from his nuclear demands, publicly softening his position and insinuating the Iran will get to decide how it is disposed of. Now, we see it with Israel and Lebanon. Trump stated that he "had a very good call with Hezbollah"... All of those reactions I talked about? Anger. Embarrassment. Appeasement. Completely valid reactions to the President of the United States... effectively bowing at the feet of Iran and Hezbollah. But this is reality. Sometimes reality sucks. Sometime reality is embarrassing. But it's still reality, whether you like it or not. Unfortunately, as a result of poor planning, poor strategy, and poor execution, President Trump has found himself in the midst of America's greatest foreign policy failure in U.S. history. Quite clearly, the Blockade of Iran has failed miserably. There oil wells with NEVER likely be forced shut-in. They certainly will not explode. Iran is not facing hyperinflation, merely inflations rates consistent with pre-conflict levels. Without question at this point, Iran can hold out far longer than the United States and the rest of the world can. Operation Economic Fury is truly Operation Epic Failure. And military options? I'm not sure there is a serious expert on Earth that truly believes there are any viable pathways to victory militarily. Operation Freedom 2.0? You mean the strategy that was so stupid we canceled it after 48 hours? More bombing? All that accomplished was making the Iranian regime MORE powerful. More supported. More in control. A ground invasion? Are you out of your mind?! Trump has no cards. He has no leverage. He only has complete and total capitulation to Iran at this point. And as an American? That SUCKS. The Iranian regime is not one of sunshine and rainbows. They do not plan to sing Kumbaya after this war is over. But. It. Doesn't. Matter. The United States has no leverage on Iran. No way to meaningfully exert pressure they cannot withstand. If Trump says no to a demand? The Iranian answer is, "Okay. Then the Strait stays closed." Every. Single. Time. Because they can. Because they have the leverage. Iran holds the cards. So when Iran demands that Trump rein in Netanyahu? He can throw a fit, as I'm sure he did, but eventually? He has no choice. With Iran demanding we unfreeze their assets? Trump may try to structure it in a way that gives him the ability to "try" to avoid the image of pallets of cash a la Obama, but at the end of the day? He's unfreezing those assets. This is the reality. Reality doesn't care if you're happy about it. It doesn't care that you don't like the end conclusion of this conflict. Reality is reality nonetheless. So while you may not "like" this embarrassing move from Trump... Understand that the only other alternative was letting the global economy suffer... only to end up right back in this same spot.
