Monopoly capitalism leaves no alternative. The Western ruling class must wage war against multipolarism and against any state that refuses vassalage to the gangsters of capital. This is the logic of a system in terminal crisis

 Billy Bob

With today's news about Trump promising to bomb Iran one more time, let's take a moment to consider the context:
Long ago—before Trump’s 2024 victory—the trajectory seemed obvious. With China’s exponential rise and the emergence of a genuine multipolar order, the decline of Western hegemony appeared inevitable. That very inevitability, however, guaranteed the West’s response: a grand strategy of last-ditch escalation to secure oligarchic wealth, power, and privilege throughout the rest of the 21st century.
Monopoly capitalism leaves no alternative. The Western ruling class must wage war against multipolarism and against any state that refuses vassalage to the gangsters of capital. This is the logic of a system in terminal crisis, as Lenin described a century ago.
But in the age of liberalism, hegemonic war requires a double game. The oligarchs invest billions in military and energy infrastructure while simultaneously manufacturing a fog of narratives, excuses, and justifications designed to conceal the simple fact of violent aggression. You are meant to believe in “rules-based order” while watching Nord Stream blown up, Iran’s oil tankers seized, and Venezuela’s president kidnapped.
Here is the material truth that liberal ideology hides: The national interests of individual Western nations are subordinate to the class interests of the transnational oligarchy. The United States, Germany, Japan—these are vehicles, not agents. The Western ruling class will sacrifice German industry (Nord Stream destroyed), British pensions (sanctions-driven inflation), and American workers (wars for energy profits) to maintain hegemony. Nations are used by the class that controls them.
This lens—grounded in history and material reality—gave us certainty years ago that Trump would win in 2024, attack Iran’s energy infrastructure, and pursue hegemonic reordering by any means necessary. It was obvious that the existing “rules-based order” was on a multipolar track. The West had no choice but to reverse that track through war, resource theft, and economic coercion. Massive upheaval and global economic breakdown are necessary features of this hegemonic effort.
Grasp this clearly, and you will not be hoodwinked by the excuses. No, Maduro was not shipping fentanyl to the US—that was a DEA fiction recycled from Panama’s Noriega days. No, Iran was not threatening to nuke Israel—its nuclear program has been civilian and IAEA-inspected. No, Russia is not trying to resurrect the USSR—that’s a Atlantic Council talking point. These narratives are the double game’s camouflage. The oligarchs want you to believe they represent the people but they only represent themselves.
Now let’s get specific. If the Western oligarchy is simply engaged in a campaign for global hegemony, why declare China their “number one enemy” while waging war against Iran and Russia?
The question answers itself. China is the final target. Iran and Russia are energy chokepoints. Look at official strategy documents from 2010 onward—the Pentagon’s Energy Security Strategy, the State Department’s Global Shale Gas Initiative, the CIA’s decades-long efforts to reroute pipelines away from Russia and Iran. The thread connecting Maduro’s kidnapping, the destruction of Nord Stream, and the proxy war in Ukraine is energy dominance. Control global energy flows, and you can leverage this power to isolate and weaken China.
This strategy was developed around 2010 when US shale extraction became technically viable but economically uncompetitive. Hundreds of billions were invested in LNG terminals, pipelines, and export ports before shale could compete with Russian or Gulf state energy on price. Investors were given quiet assurances: Don’t worry—your competitors will be taken offline by war. That promise is now being delivered. Nord Stream 1 and 2 are rubble. Iranian oil is blockaded. Venezuelan crude is under sanctions. Russian energy is capped and sanctioned. And US LNG exports are reaping windfall profits, grabbing market share from the Caspian to South East Asia.
This is how we can have certainty about the future: China will face a full energy embargo and likely a US-backed proxy war—probably in the South China Sea or via a Taiwan Strait blockade dressed up as “defensive.” The inexorable drive for monopoly power, full-spectrum dominance, and total global hegemony is the actual driver for what we are seeing play out today and in the near future.
Remember: the oligarchs invested in shale export infrastructure before it was profitable. That tells you everything. They knew the wars were coming because they planned them.
