 would do well to hold his tongue on the matter. 

For a Secretary of State serving an administration that openly claims the right to "reassert and enforce" a modernized Monroe Doctrine across the entire Western Hemisphere, lecturing Tehran about ideological overreach or interference in other nations' affairs requires a remarkable degree of audacity.

The Trump administration's 2025 National Security Strategy explicitly seeks to prevent non-Hemispheric powers from positioning forces or other threatening capabilities in the region, from acquiring or controlling strategically vital assets, and refers to a collection of sovereign nations as "our Hemisphere" - one in which the United States should impose its own "priorities."

To criticize Iran for conduct that is far more limited in scope and largely reactive in nature, while simultaneously asserting that kind of sweeping hemispheric entitlement, only throws Rubio's hypocrisy into sharper relief.
