Your lack of knowledge of even elementary military fundamentals is shocking, especially for someone who once worked for a U.S. administration. The problem isn't negative or unhelpful "media narratives" that undermine our war effort, it is the unwillingness or blindness of our senior leaders to recognize the truth of this war we chose:
1) we were never threatened by Iran
2) there was NEVER an "imminent threat" of a nuclear bomb in two weeks (or ever, as our intelligence continued to reiterate there WAS NO BOMB PROGRM)
3) Iranian defenses, mostly situated under granite mountains, could not be destroyed by bombs and missiles alone, no matter how many we fired
4) the Iranian gov system was never going to be brought down, like the Saddam or Maduro regimes, bc it was fundamentally designed to survive assassinations.
and
5) it was as clear as could be that if we launched an illegal war of choice, which violated our laws and Constitution, that Iran would seize control of the Strait of Hormuz and attack our allies in the region, thus sparking an oil and gas supply crisis
All of that was known well ahead of time and could not be dismissed bc you had a strong desire/lust to destroy Iran. The fundamentals are even more strongly in Iran's favor now, owing to our foolish continuation of the conflict, and any attempt to return to full-on combat actions will deepen our failure to an extent it could spawn an economic depression.
So yeah, the threat from inside your show is real.
